Rooms and changing rooms in spa could do with a little updating. Disappointed breakfast in bed is so expensive compared to restaurant.

This hotel is expensive however if you want to treat yourself it's worth it. It's centrally located (beside the Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Palace) and about 5-10 minutes walk away from the hustle and bustle of Royal Mile.

Edinburgh has good public transport. We got the local bus from the airport (number 35 drops you off on canongate - less than five minutes walk from the hotel). This will cost £1.10 per person for each journey or you can buy a day ticket for £2.50. It took about 50 minutes to get from the airport though so if you're in a hurry you may want to choose another mode of transport.
If you fancy something sweet there's a lovely coffee shop on Canongate (runs parallel with Holyrood Road) called Has Beans. It does good pecan pie. Owner very friendly.

Concierge was particularly helpful. We checked in early to see Edinburgh and all luggage was taken from us. After spending a few hours at the Festival we arrived back to the room with all our luggage carefully placed in the wardrobes and our daughter's teddy bear tucked in her fold down bed. When we checked out Concierge were able to keep our luggage and let us continue our parking to allow us time to further enjoy the Cavalcade without any worry. Restaurant staff were very helpful. All cooked breakfasts were cooked to order and they were very attentive to every detail.Staff were very helpful and family friendly. Food was fresh and delicious.Festival time was a feast of activities and a fantastic atmosphere wherever you went
