Very efficient hotel situated just down off of the Royal Mile in the grassmarket. Clean rooms, extremely friendly staff and especially so within the excellent bar and restaurant area. If in Edinburgh again this hotel would be my first port of call.
Top Tip
The grassmarket is full of smallish traditional bars and restaurants which are sure to please nearly everyones tastes. The royal mile is a bit of a yomp up the hill but after the excertion well worth the effort. Friday and Saturday nights can be a little noisy out on the Grassmarket up until midnight but when in Edinburgh over a weekend it would be inexcusable to hit the sack before the witching hour anyway.

The location was very good with excellent views of the Castle from the front and easy access to the High Street and shops. However, it was a typical city centre hotel - no soul or individuality - there was also a problem with the lifts which was a little worrying.
Top Tip
Try Maison Bleue in Lawnmarket and the rear Beer Garden of the Beehive Inn on the other side of Grassmarket.

Easy walking distance of Royal Mile and other key attractions.
Facilities would have rated excellent if TV in room had worked.
Top Tip
Several good independent restaurants in immediate area.

If you are 2 young lads in Edinburgh for the first time; don't go 'mad' on the 1st day. Brilliant area for young people.

Top Tip
Ask for a room at the front of the hotel with a castle view. We were out back overlooking the car park :(
