With just nine rooms, the Bank Hotel is one of the smallest properties in Edinburgh city centre. Each guestroom is individually themed on a famous Scot, making this a great escape from the chain hotels where all rooms are similar. The location is a double edged sword: it’s right on the Royal Mile, which is the perfect city centre location, but it can be busy at night and may not suit light sleepers. Given the limited accommodation, it’s quite difficult to get availability at the Bank Hotel, so you do need to book early.

This hotel was originally built as a bank in 1923, and was refurbished and opened as a hotel in 1998. The façade of the hotel creates a very imposing landmark on the Royal Mile. Entrance to the hotel is through Logie Bairds Bar, and the reception can be found in the Bank Manager's office at the rear of the bar. There are nine bedrooms in the hotel, each one named after a famous Scot, and all uniquely furnished. The hotel bar, Logie Bairds is a favourite with guests and locals alike.

     Old (but clean)building...             We loved it and will go back...             More for the adventurous person I think. ...             Lovely hotel ...             suited our needs perfectly...             Breakfast was lovely ...             overall it's a lovely hotel ...             My first choice was the Raddison which I bitterly regret not booking...             no reception...             suitable for fit people who want to drink in the bar...             good breakfast...              would definitely stay again...
