If your looking for a modern clinical hotel this is not for you.Old (but clean)building, rooms above a busy bar which does live music at the weekends.A flight of stairs that Sir edmond hilary would struggle with.Staff are great as was the food.We loved it and will go back.More for the adventurous person I think.

Lovely hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Only critism would be that the room is on the small size- just enough room to walk along side of bed and into bathroom. Also no sewing kit which we needed.

We were going to a concert at Edinburgh Castle and the hotel was perfect location. Lots of nice places to eat and drink on the Royal Mile and very handy for Waverley Station. We ate at Gordon's Trattoria which was lovely.

A lot of stairs to the top floor, but it's worth it for the quieter night. At breakfast time, avoid the scrambled eggs.(more like a dry, chopped-up omelette)

Localización muy céntrica y hotel curioso, pero no tiene ascensor, se entra por un bar, se desayuna en el mismo bar, las habitaciones son pequeñas... Eso sí, todo muy limpio y la gente muy maja.

We stayed for one night and it suited our needs perfectly. The room was clean and tidy, although we were on the top floor and there are no lifts (it's an old building) so travellers may wish to request a lower floor if they require less stairs. The staff were fantastic and even carried my ridiculously heavy bag up to the room. Breakfast was lovely and timed perfectly to soak up the excesses of the previous evening's entertainment! This hotel is right in the centre of the city so the location is great for during the day but it is also noisy at night so if you're a light sleeper, be prepared to be disturbed. However, overall it's a lovely hotel with very friendly staff and a bustling bar, right in the heart of one of the best cities in the world!

Top Tip
There's an outstanding cocktail bar just down the Royal Mile, called Monteiths- you should try the Ciao Bru- a cocktail fashioned from the Scots' national drink, Irn Bru!

My first choice was the Raddison which I bitterly regret not booking. I almost feel as though I have to go back and start again.I hadn't realised that there was no reception, only the bar, the steps to the toilet were almost 20 stairs to get to and as I am partially disabled it was impossible for me to use, I went next door to the Raddison. I can cope with some normal facilities. However there is no lift at all in the hotel and my room was on the second floor which was four flights up, so I couldn't go up as I would never be able to go out until I left. The barman was very good when I said I wanted move hotels. He taxied us to The Hudson. This was better but again there was no handbar to get into the bath and shower which was very deep and Mrs Richards fell in.? and we are not doddery.The Hudson was miles away from the ROyal Mile which was where we wanted to be. I may have stayed on longer as I had to go to Melrose the next day but the visit was tiring because of the upheaval.Conclusion, suitable for fit people who want to drink in the bar, should state no lift and not suitable for disabled of any sort.

Royal Mile excellent if noisy, Maxies restaurant very good.Visit to Castle essential. Had a taxi, Stuart who was so good he made up for our great disapointment and took us everywhere,waited in Melrose for two hours without charge,and was worth every penny which was cheap for two days.The Galleries are wonderful but we were too busy moving hotels to stay long.Take into account the walk at the airport to get to the plane is long so allow time.I hope that this helps.

didnt get to stay at the Bank!!!. Got transfered to sister hotel The Hudson with a free upgrade. Enjoyed our stay and cannot fault the service at either hotel.

Top Tip
very short stay in edinburgh but would certainly recommend the italian restaurant La Favorita on Leith walk. Nice friendly staff and good food at a reasonable price.
