We were booked in for 2 nights.
On the first night we were kept awake by a dripping/running shower - so next morning we mentioned it to reception as we went out.
When we returned in the evening, we found the shower was not repaired, but more importantly our hotel room door had been left wide open all day by whoever had looked at the shower!
We complained, and were moved to another room so that the shower would not keep us awake - and we were told someone would contact us regarding compensation for the matter of the door, as we found this very unsatisfactory.
Other issues with this hotel:
- very dirty bathroom (tiles/grouting filthy)
- no tv remote control
- hair dryers would work for 10 seconds then cut out
- view from our room (135) appalling
For the price that we paid for this hotel, we found it to be severely lacking in many areas, and would appreciate it if someone from the hotel or booking company would contact us to discuss this.
This is the 1st time I have ever complained about a hotel, but since my wife had booked it as a surprise weekend away for me, and it was such a let down, I feel we need to comment.
The only positive comment we have so far is regarding the staff, who were very friendly and helpful.

At 5am the hot water system is turned on and the pipes vibrate violently for 30 secs (imagine a spanner being bashed against the pipes). Bread Street is a thoroughfare between the centre and Lothian Road - you won't get any sleep until 4.30am at the weekends as hoards of stag parties shout their way down the street, having finished in the strip bars nearby.

Hotel very clean and tidy. The room we were in was on Bread Street and was quite noisy with traffic and people visiting bars nearby. Hot water tap too hot!

Its a minimalist design but it lacks style, if i had designed this hotel i would give up for good.
It lacks warmth, and is not a comfortable environment.
It has so many faults architecturally and spacialy i dont know where to start...BUT who picked the old fashioned bentwood dining chairs in a modern hotel..YUCK! if you want style pay for it.
if i had been the architect for this job i would have shot myself.
cheap, cheerful and a bed for the night if your not looking for anything else its ok
