The Frederick is ideally situated and priced for our needs when visiting Edinburgh. We have already recommended it to friends for future use. Although I scored facilities as 3 that is no reflection on the establishment & only refers to the fact breakfast &/or bar facilities are to be found off premises. Not a problem for us but other potential guests might prefer on site catering. If you want a clean, quiet and well situated hotel that isn't expensive stay at the Frederick. We've stayed in more expensive hotels in the city but now favour this hotel over them.
